About two weeks ago I purchased a book from amazon.com. The VBV screen did not come up - the site did not even ask me for my CVV2 - the payment just went through after I had entered my credit card no. and expiry date. I received an e-mail from amazon informing me that the book is being sent, so I think I did not enter a rogue site. Is amazon.com so highly trusted that it does not need to participate in VBV?
